GEA ECOFLEX- gasketted heat exchangers

Working principle

For heat transfer ,the both colder and warmer fluids are transfered through the heat exchanger without mixing each other thanks to shift plates and their corresponding gaskets . This heat transfer process is performed as shown in figure . inlet and outlet temperatures of mediums ,operating pressures ,allowable
pressure losses in heat exchanger,heat capasity,type and flow rate of mediums directly effects the design and working type of heat exchangers .

Components

Gea ecoflex plated heated exchangers are mainly composed of the plate pack,gaskets,frame, tightening bars and relevant nuts, support and guide bars .

Gasket materials :NBR 140 C max , EPDM 170 C max ,Viton 200 C max, hard gaskets 220 C max

Advantages
1-Wide usage range : gea ecoflex plate heat exchangers can be used up to 220 C and 25 bar in operation .moreover ,in case of highly corrosive mediums are used , it is easy to overcome corrosion problem by selecting a suitable type of plate materials , such as titanium,hastelloy,incoloy..etc

2-Easy capasity increase :it is very easy to increase or decrease the heat capasity by adding or removing plates from heat exchanger.this feature makes it enable to be available from one application to another ,such as by adding plates the same heat exchager can be used for different purposes in process.however, this flexible feature is not available in shell and tube type heat exchangers .
3-Easy maintaince : it is easy to clean the heat exchanger by just separating the plates from heat exchager frame ,the gaskets as well .alternatively, it is also possible to clean up the heat exchanger without disassembling the plates by using back washing or chemical application procedures .the special pattern on the plates creates higer turbulance in heat exchanger ,that leads less scale formation compared to tubular heat exchangers .
4-Efficiency: small thickness of plates (0.5-0.6 mm),special geometric shape ,small hydrolic diameter and counter current flow makes gea ecoflex plate heat exchanger's heat transfer coefficient 3-4 times higer than that of tubulat heat exchangers.
5-Easyness in delivery and assembling :besides the efficiency is higer 3-4 times than tubular heat exchangers , the volume and size is also smaller 9-10 times when compared to tubular heat exchangers.
6-long operating time :since the plates are selected specificly and ressistant materials are used(stainless steel,hastelloy,titanium,hastelloy.etc),the operation time of gea heat exchangers are quite long .
7-Aplicability for automation : in case of very less temperature differences betwen inlet fluids ,and/or in case of very sensitive heat control is needed , plate heat exchangers are fully meets these requirements in automation.
8-İnvestment cost is quite less.
9-For the mediums containing solid particles or pulp, heat tranfer is performed even by not using any filter.
